Welcome Again

Hello all! It has been a long while since we last posted anything to here, almost two years. We ended up taking an unexpected hiatus from blogging the last two years for personal reasons.

We are hoping to get back to it for real this time and have lots of blog posts planned and prewritten, so I have much higher hopes this time of it all actually going to plan. I hope to be able to help you with mini projects and share the mini projects we have been working on the last two years ourselves.

Coming up I know for sure there is a wood flooring tutorial, an outside table tutorial, and a mini find evaluation just for starters. I hope some of what we have coming will be of interest and helpful to you all! Thanks!

Conversion Charts & An Update

We have taken a mighty long break from this blog, I don’t want to say how many half finished posts I have sitting waiting for my attention. The answer is too many… But I am planning on changing that and posting more and more consistently. I have tutorials and how-to posts planned, what we have been working on for the last year or so, dollhouse updates, and a couple surprises as well.

I figured I should do something more than just post an update about that though so I created some conversion charts, really I just more or less made fancy versions of my hand written ones that I use myself. I figured I could share them with you all though in hopes that they might make your miniature fun easier to do, I know they have been convenient for me when my brain doesn’t always to do the math. So here you go… cute little charts in 1:12 scale, 1:6 scale, 1:24 scale, and 1:9 scale!!!

I hope these are helpful! I know the 1:9 scale one is kinda wonky, it is more or less a work in progress as well as more of a guide line, but it’s a starting point at least.

Quick Update

For our first post back I’d thought I’d share with you an update on our etsy shop, for two reason… One who doesn’t love tiny cute things and two I have a coupon code you all the use in our shop till July 10th. To celebrate the coming summer and all the new items set to invade our shop feed!!

These past few months have been hectic, getting new items up to the shop and getting ready for the summer months, so many weeds needed weeding… So there hasn’t been much done on the dollhouses front, though we do have a new project to show you that we are starting soon that you’ll get to follow along with us as we work on it. I’ll leave it as a surprise for the next post what it is, but I will give you one hint… it’s red!

The shop has been getting more items. We’ve added lots of new pillows, afghans and bedding sets, in all different colors and styles. We have a couple one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture almost done and some limited run pieces on their way as well. We have also expanded out into 1:9 scale, and have added many model horse blankets and accessories. With lots more on the way, and some horse fun for 1:12 scale as well.

Now for the coupon I mentioned. Till July 10th, 2019 if you use the code SUMMERBLAST2019 you can get 10% off a purchase of $15.00 dollars or more! So go check out our shop and be on the lookout for lots of new items headed its way!!

Beachside Bungalow: Mid Century House Update

It is the start of 2019 and one of our goals is to finish this house. We started a renovation last year but didn’t quite get it finished. We are giving ourselves a deadline this time, I hope this helps to get it finished!

Last year we did get quite alot done as you can see in some of the pictures; although at the moment it’s the catch all for everything imaginable. Had to take a picture of this mess! I think first thing is to clear out everything that doesn’t belong.

We had yet to decide what the two smaller rooms upstairs should be so that needs to be given some thought. I was thinking a small library or reading room, a sewing room, a nursery or a small bedroom. Decisions, Decisions.

We are staying with the mid-century decorating style so be sure to check back weekly to see what items we may find to create and share as we go along. We plan on finishing by April 30th, lets hope we can do it!

2018 Creating Contest Update

Here I am sitting by the toasty fire looking at our almost finished house for the hobby builders contest for 2018 ( miniatures.com). We have like 4 Days left to finish, and I think we are going to make it!

We started it last summer and thought we would have it done way ahead of time but procrastination and other projects kept it moving at a snails pace. Maybe we just like to work under pressure!

We changed our mind a couple of times on the look we wanted for the outside of the house but finally decided on brick and siding. I have to say I’m very tired of doing brickwork in miniature. It took me way longer than I had anticipated to glue all the tiny bricks onto the house. Then came the siding; this turned out to be a little more difficult than we thought. Once we got it figured out it did go fairly smoothly. I did have to call on my husbands help in a couple spots!

I have to say it’s looking good so far and I’m confident we are going to meet our deadline!
