Beachside Bungalow: Mid Century House Update

It is the start of 2019 and one of our goals is to finish this house. We started a renovation last year but didn’t quite get it finished. We are giving ourselves a deadline this time, I hope this helps to get it finished!

Last year we did get quite alot done as you can see in some of the pictures; although at the moment it’s the catch all for everything imaginable. Had to take a picture of this mess! I think first thing is to clear out everything that doesn’t belong.

We had yet to decide what the two smaller rooms upstairs should be so that needs to be given some thought. I was thinking a small library or reading room, a sewing room, a nursery or a small bedroom. Decisions, Decisions.

We are staying with the mid-century decorating style so be sure to check back weekly to see what items we may find to create and share as we go along. We plan on finishing by April 30th, lets hope we can do it!

2018 Creating Contest Update

Here I am sitting by the toasty fire looking at our almost finished house for the hobby builders contest for 2018 ( miniatures.com). We have like 4 Days left to finish, and I think we are going to make it!

We started it last summer and thought we would have it done way ahead of time but procrastination and other projects kept it moving at a snails pace. Maybe we just like to work under pressure!

We changed our mind a couple of times on the look we wanted for the outside of the house but finally decided on brick and siding. I have to say I’m very tired of doing brickwork in miniature. It took me way longer than I had anticipated to glue all the tiny bricks onto the house. Then came the siding; this turned out to be a little more difficult than we thought. Once we got it figured out it did go fairly smoothly. I did have to call on my husbands help in a couple spots!

I have to say it’s looking good so far and I’m confident we are going to meet our deadline!

May Update

We haven’t mentioned much about the shop yet or started on any tutorials, as hard as I’ve been trying to get it all running smoothly, it’s been difficult. I’m hoping in the next coming weeks to get everything in a semblance of order. I hoping to be able to make one post a week on here, with different varying content. That should be rolling into being at the beginning of May.

Now on to the shop update… During the month of April we have had the addition of quite a bit of 1:12 scale bedding and pillows.

Lots of modern and rustic or country chic have been added with brights colors and pastels are coming up next. We have also started to begin to carry more 1:6 scale and some 1:24 scale is on its way.

The majority of the items that are on their way are soft things bedding, pillows, and such but their are also some furniture pieces that are getting ready to make their way into the shop.

Blog wise I want to introduce you to our other house, a log cabin, and I also have two simple tutorials in the works.

Before I go, I’ll show some of the pillows that have been added to our shop BnBKreationz on etsy.

Visiting A Miniature Show

On January 20th 2018 , my daughter and I got to attend the Southern California Tom Bishop Miniature Show in Anaheim. What an experience! This was the first time that I myself got to go to this event; Briana has been to it twice before.

I have to  say it was a little overwhelming. Who knew you could put so many different miniature items in one room. The first 30 minutes was spend just walking around and looking at everything.  It made me come to the conclusion that we have a few to many projects and houses that we where looking to find something for!

Since we make a lot of our own items, I as on the lookout for things that we can’t make and of course supplies for making new items. We hit the jackpot in the supply department!

Briana has been wanting to try food molds for polymer clay, and Stewart Dollhouse Creation was the place for lots of clay working goodies. She will be busy creating new food, to add realism to both of the dollhouse kitchens!

Firefly International was a treasure trove of supplies for our upcoming project. With all selections of small print fabric and tiny trims, it allowed us to make some really cute selections.

We also found lots of little items from Vilia Miniatures, Wright Guide Miniatures and D. Sierck Ltd to add clutter to our houses.

New Year & Whats To Come

Hi and welcome toy our first blog post. To start off we wanted to let you know what all you have to look forward to, and a little back story about us.

We started our etsy shop in August of 2016, with us wanting to share our miniature creations with people. Throughout the last year we started working on expanding from just the 1:12 scale dollhouse miniatures to encompass both the 1:6 playscale or fashion doll and the 1:3 or 18-inch doll things. So many names for the two different scales.

To start off this year though we decided to take another big leap and start this blog in hopes of being able to share our ideas and all the mini fun with more people.

Now the fun part, what’s to come to the blog! We want to use this platform to share easy miniature d.i.y.’s for all three scales, share our progress in our dollhouse construction, offer tips and trick for building dollhouses, share previews of what’s coming to our etsy shop  BnBKreationz , and give updates and special offers for the shop as well.

So look forward to all of that and probably more!!
